The movie

In https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatomy_of_a_Fall, a husband fell from his own house and died. Nobody else except for his wife could be a murderer. Is it a murder, a self-suicide or a random fall? The movie doesn’t tell us the final truth. There is no more than 10 minutes shots for the husband but his life story, his self-struggling are exposed naked in front of the audience.

I can’t stop thinking

If I was the boy, my parents’ fights were revealed nakedly. Who should be the representation of nice, kind and being full of love, turned out to be stranger with violence, cheating, blaming and screaming. How to face with this real side of real people. What if that was a murder, how could Daniel have the courage to face his mother? The last dialog Daniel had with his mom “J’avais peur que tu rentres” (I was afraid you would come home).

If Samuel was really desperate? He must be very talented. He couldn’t fulfill his ambitions. His life seemed OK for a ordinary person. He was not satisfied. He had dreams, which might be his motivation to keep living. He couldn’t realize them, or he didn’t dare to take actions. What if he was not able to realize his ambition? What if he was not that talented as he wished? It was better to die with unrealized dreams, than living to be proved he was not a genius. Was he a victim as he defensed? Yes, if he didn’t live as a victim, he would have no courage to keep living.

The love between the couple is very spiritual. Can a spiritual relationship be happy? Sandra and Samuel had a hard relationship. Sandra still appreciated Samuel’s talent, his aura. He might be a soulmate for her. Previously, nobody understood Sandra. She escaped from her family, from where she grew up. Samuel made her successful. At least, his idea contributed to her book. If two talented people couldn’t succeed together, it is hard to for the ordinary one to appreciate the other’s success. Jealousy and love were fighting, and eventually distorted the relationship. It is kind of sad, but also a destiny. Samuel is Sandra’s true soul mate. The other sexual affairs she had with others stay in the physical level.

The dialogs in the anatomies are very interesting. The way the prosecution asked questions is full of leading. How Sandra defensed herself against Samuel’s psychiatrist,
I don't know you, and you come here with your notes and explain to me who Samuel was, and what we were going through... But what you say is not reality.
Perhaps Samuel needed to see things the way you describe them.
Exactly, everyone lives in his/her own world. We see the world in a way we wanted to see. We want to convince others our world.

Lingering Scripts

(Zoe) Do you think we can only write from experience?

(Sandra) You cling to it in order to suffer. You do this all the time, you make yourself the victim.

(Sandra) There are times when a couple is a kind of chaos, when everybody is lost. Sometimes we fight together, sometimes we fight alone or against one another.

(Marge)
Quand un élément nous manque pour juger de quelque chose, et que ce manque est insupportable, la seule chose qu’on peut faire c’est décider. Pour sortir du doute, on est parfois obligé de décider de basculer d’un côté plutôt que de l’autre. (When we lack an element to judge something, and that this lack is unbearable, the only thing we can do is decide. To get out of doubt, we are sometimes forced to decide to switch to one side rather than the other.)

(Sandra) You know, when you lose, you lose. It's the worst thing that can happen. But when you win, you expect some kind of reward... and there isn't any. You leave empty-handed.
